AIFD National Symposium ‘Journey’ headed for Denver
The American Institute of Floral Designers National Symposium, under the banner “Journey,” will meet June 30-July 4 in Denver. This year is also the organization’s 50-year anniversary so a huge celebration is planned.
The AIFD National Symposium logo.Along with a half-day expo of floral industry suppliers, stage presentations by international and emerging U.S. designers, a student competition and celebratory dinners, there will also be first-ever hands-on classes taught by four of AIFD’s instructors. Plus, at the Fitz Design Body Wear Contest you could win a free general registration to next year’s national symposium, “Inspiration,” in Orange County, CA, July 3-7, 2016. A prize will be awarded in both the men’s and ladies floral adornment categories, according to the organization’s website.
Here’s how it works. Your floral creation can be made earlier and brought with you to the Symposium to be finished on-site or it can be created from scratch in Denver. Fitz Design items will be available at the Body Bar Buffet at the hotel, which opens on July 4 at 2 p.m. All personal body flowers need to feature at least one Fitz Design item but may include more than one. All entries must be photographed by the AIFD-designated photographer prior to the Leadership Gala Dinner on July 4. A panel of AIFD designers and Fitz Design representatives will select 10 entries in each category (male/female) and put them online for all AIFD members and Symposium registrants to vote on. The winner will be announced in early September.
