Basciani Mushroom Farms mourns matriarch Anna Basciani
Anna Basciani of Basciani Mushroom Farms died peacefully at home Oct. 15 while surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.
Ms. Basciani was the wife of the late Mario (Chuff) Basciani, with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage prior to his passing in September of 2020. Until the age of 80, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Basciani Mushroom Farms.
Born 1929 at home in Toughkenamon, PA, Ms. Basciani was the daughter of the late Antonio Masciantonio and the late Mary DeDominic Masciantonio.
In addition to her role at Basciani Mushroom Farms, Ms. Basciani dedicated her life to raising her family and found great delight in taking care of those whom she loved.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and her family always looked forward to one of her homemade meals. Ms. Basciani also enjoyed traveling.
Ms. Basciani was the matriarch of her family. She beat cancer five times and through it all never complained. Her faith was also strong and she was an original church keeper for St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Parish, where she was a lifelong member.
Ms. Basciani’s family and friends will deeply miss her lovable personality and the joy she brought to the world.
Ms. Basciani’s family thanked all of her caregivers and acknowledged the special efforts of both Anita and Frances. They also thank Brandywine Hospice for their support through a difficult time.
Ms. Basciani is survived by sons, Mario (Monnie) Basciani (Kathleen), Richard Basciani (Kim) and Michael Basciani (Carla); daughters, Joanne Regester (George) and Susanne Guizzetti (Victor); 18 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Basciani was preceded in death by her brother, Nick Masciantonio, and her sisters, Julia Caputo and Helen Vallorani.
