Ready Pac to showcase new fresh offerings and award finalists at United Fresh 2013
Ready Pac Inc. will feature its latest advances in fresh-cut produce at the upcoming United Fresh Produce Association convention, to be held May 14-16 in San Diego, CA.
With two award finalists this year for best new product, as well as a wide variety of fresh, unique flavor profiles to suit all tastes, Ready Pac is poised to make an impact at this year's event.
Ready Pac will feature many of the new and exciting items it has launched throughout this past year at United Fresh 2013. Among the advancements are new salad recipes, new organic single-serve salads, and ergonomic and sustainable product packaging. Through these advancements in packaging, Ready Pac has achieved a number of goals by reducing the amount of materials used in the production of clamshells.
For example, its new custom peel and reseal clamshell film is one of the latest Ready Pac accomplishments to achieve recognition, and it is currently a United Fresh 2013 finalist for the Best New Packaging award.
This peel-and-reseal film is friendly to consumers and the environment, and sets a new standard for salad packaging. Easy to open and tamper-evident, it keeps lettuce fresh while using about a third less plastic, allowing for an extra layer on each pallet during transport.
Featured products during the show will also include new recipes within the Ready Pac Bistro Salad Bowl line. A classic newcomer, Apple Bleu Pecan, has already proven to be a key performer for the brand. With fresh-cut apples over a bed of arugula and baby greens, walnuts, pecans and a bleu cheese vinaigrette dressing, it closely mirrors the flavor profile of the restaurant industry's top selling menu items.
Responding to booming consumer demand for organic offerings, Ready Pac introduced four new recipes of Ready Pac Bistro Organic Salad Bowls: Organic Cranberry Walnut, Organic Chicken Caesar, Organic Southwestern Style, and Organic Honey Mustard Baby Spinach. All four of the new recipes are not only 100 percent organic certified, they incorporate a blend of wholesome ingredients that make each satisfying bowl truly unique.
"We're seeing considerable growth within the organic packaged salad category which, during the latest 13 weeks, is up 20 percent in dollar sales compared to previous year," Tristan Simpson, director of marketing and corporate communications at Irwindale, CA-based Ready Pac, said in a press release. "We've had such great success with our Ready Pac Bistro Salad line, it made perfect sense for us to extend our offerings to accommodate our growing organic consumer base."
Ready Pac also will introduce a sweet new treat coming to the marketplace. The Bistro Fruit Salad, another key feature at this year's event, brings an entirely new take on fruit bowls to the table.
These recloseable single-serve bowls are filled with fresh-cut fruit, a sweet dressing and dried fruit or nut garnish to blend together and bring out the fruit's dynamic flavors.
There are three combinations set to make a debut: Tropical Fruit Salad, Caramel Fruit Salad and Waldorf Fruit Salad. Bistro Fruit Salad has been confirmed as a finalist for the coveted Best New Fruit Product Award. Nominees in each category will be displayed at the United Fresh Membership booth, and winners will be selected by event attendees.
