WF&FSA conference opens with full house, added programs
The Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association conference opened Oct. 24 with a sold-out exhibit area, two fully booked airport tours, a full house in the host hotel and two last-minute additions to the program: a session on social media and a free analysis of company websites.
“What’s Next?” was the theme for WF&FSA’s annual Floral Distribution Conference in Miami Oct. 24-26, which explored how the next generation will change and lead the industry. A mid-October registration count indicated that attendance would surpass last year’s total of 730, which broke records going back nearly a quarter-century.
An expanded block of rooms at the host hotel, the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, sold out early in September, along with all 96 exhibition spaces. In early October, Trish Lilly, executive vice president of the association, noted that two tours of Miami International Airport were fully booked.
The new program additions, announced Oct. 18, are a session on A Social Media Guide for Floral Retailers and Wholesalers by Charles Hall of Texas A&M University, and a free online marketing analysis of company websites, including a phone interview covering company products, services and customers, a custom 40-page report and a 30-minute consulting session on the report.
At press time, the opening session Oct. 25 was pending, with keynoter Bob Wendover scheduled to address leadership and emerging generations and the winner of the Leland T. Kinzele Distinguished Service Award, the association’s highest honor, to be presented. Floral Marketing in The Produce News will carry a full account of the proceedings in its Dec. 3 issue.
