Liberty Fruit's annual golf tournament raises $480,000 for charity
Liberty Fruit donated $350,000 to Children's Mercy Hospital & Clinics following its 13th annual golf tournament, held Sept. 21. (Photo by Marsha Wooten) Liberty Fruit Co., based in Kansas City, KS, held its 13th annual golf tournament Sept. 24, raising $480,000 that will benefit several local charities.
Among the beneficiaries are the Hymond Brand Hebrew Academy ($10,000), the Midwest Classic ($10,000), Jewish Family Services ($25,000), Drumm Farm Center for Children ($25,000), the Little Sisters of the Poor ($30,000), the Armourdale Community Renewal Program ($30,000) and Children's Mercy Hospital & Clinics ($350,000). This brings to $1,815,000 the total raised in the 13 years of the tournament.
"Thank you all for once again making our annual charity golf tournament a huge success," said Scott Danner, chief operating officer of Liberty Fruit. "Without our loyal customers, vendors and suppliers, we would not be able to raise the money that we do. [Next year] will bring our donations over the $2 million mark for our tournament."
