Quality, traceability important to Eagle Eye customers
Eagle Eye Produce, headquartered in Idaho Falls, ID, works hard to ensure its customers and consumers receive the highest-quality onions available. “We are already currently a dedicated year-round supplier of onions,” Vice President of Sales Lance Poole told The Produce News Sept. 11. “Our onions are grown in western Idaho, eastern Oregon, Texas, California and New Mexico. We work with our growers each season to make sure that we grow the varieties and quantities that our customers need from us each year.”

We are currently in the process of implementing this in the onion category,” Mr. Poole went on to say. “We have noticed that consumers have appreciated this transparency in knowing where the food they are eating is coming from, and have given us great feedback through surveys we have collected.”
Mr. Poole was asked about market trends the company is seeing and how these trends are being addressed. He said consumers are “going back to basics” with purchases being made in smaller quantities. “As a result of this shift toward smaller quantities, we offer not only large-weight bags of onions but smaller-weight bags as well, geared more toward this specific type of consumer,” he commented.
Sweet onions are being increasingly purchased, and Mr. Lance said that Eagle Eye Produce continues to work with its key growers to ensure an ample volume of sweet onions is available throughout the year.
