Great-looking crop of organic garlic for Christopher Ranch this year
Patsy Ross, vice president of marketing for Christopher Ranch in Gilroy, CA, said that the company’s organic garlic “looks great this year, and we have a very good supply. Look for a lot of domestically grown organic garlic from Christopher Ranch this year.”
The company, a leading grower-packer-shipper of organic garlic, has been growing organically since 1997, and it handles organic products produced by other growing partners.
Ms. Ross said the company introduced a couple of new items this year in its organic line.
“New is our 32-ounce of organic chopped garlic,” said Ms. Ross. “Also new is our three-ounce header bag of organic ginger. This complements our other organic specialty items.
“We are also excited about adding organic garlic braids this season,” she added.
In its extensive organic line, Christopher Ranch offers fresh, peeled, roasted and processed garlic. It also offers organic shallots, organic pearl onions, organic cipollini onions, organic boiler onions, organic elephant garlic, organic ginger and a full line of organic jarred products. Its jarred organic line includes roasted garlic, shallots, chopped garlic and ginger.
“Our goal is to have year-round availability of domestically grown garlic, shallots and elephant garlic,” said Ms. Ross. “We are increasing our domestic garlic, shallots and elephant garlic production by about 10 percent every year.”
Christopher Ranch does business across all segments of the food industry, including retail, wholesale, foodservice and industrial categories. Both its conventional and organic line of products are sold across the country.
For more than 50 years the Christopher family has been growing superior California garlic from its privately owned farms in Gilroy. The company takes great pride in providing high-quality, flavorful and healthy garlic. The company has a strong customer base with retailers, wholesalers, foodservice distributors and food manufacturers.
Ms. Ross said that the company has made its organic program a priority for more than the past decade.
“Our organic business grows by over 10 percent per year,” she said. “The demand for our organic products has outpaced our available supply. There is definitely additional room for growth in this segment of our business.”
Christopher Ranch, Ms. Ross added, plans to continue to increase its organic production by 10 percent each year until it is able to meet the growing demand for California-grown organic garlic.
