Del Jacobs Farm/Del Cabo to have good volumes of organic sweet petite pepper medley
Marina Pace, marketing representative for Jacobs Farm/Del Cabo Inc., a Pescadero, CA-based organic grower-distributor, said that Del Cabo’s organic sweet petite pepper medley, a colorful mix of sweet mini peppers developed by the company’s plant breeding team, will soon be available in promotable volumes.

Included in the line-up and currently — or soon to be — available are several new retail packs, including Del Cabo organic garlic in a net bag, Del Cabo organic ginger in a clamshell and bagged Del Cabo organic green beans and Del Cabo organic zucchini.”
Jacobs Farm was founded by Larry Jacobs and Sandra Belin in 1980. After encountering a community of struggling, subsistence-level farmers in Mexico, and confident in their vision for their next venture, the Del Cabo cooperative was conceived. Their idea of farm- and community-centered production, supported by international market opportunities, proved to be successful, and the Del Cabo cooperative was formed in 1986. Today, the collaboration between Jacobs Farm and the Baja growers provides over 400 farming families with needed training in organic growing, harvesting and handling. It also provides start-up funds, farming technology, administrative training and consistent distribution channels to ensure the best return for small-scale farms.
Today, Jacobs Farm grows more than 60 organic produce items. The partners continue their deep commitment to sustainable, organic growing practices that help to improve the standard of living for Del Cabo participants and their families and in protecting the environment.
In tune with the company’s dedication to farmers, several of its new organic items are available with Fair Trade Certification, including bananas, mangos, limes and avocados.
“Fair Trade Certified organic specialty cherry tomatoes will be available later in the year,” said Ms. Pace. “Fair Trade Certification adds value, assuring consumers that their purchases are ethically sourced, supporting a just and sustainable global economy.
The move toward offering Fair Trade Certified products is a natural extension of Jacobs Farm/Del Cabo’s mission-driven product development. Since its founding in 1980, social responsibility and environmental stewardship have guided every aspect of the business.
“Our goal is to alleviate poverty by creating a sustainable business model that benefits small, marginalized growers, while protecting the environment and promoting social development,” said Ms. Pace. “The business model is successful and highly impactful, transforming lives, creating robust communities and fostering sustainability.”
Extending its reach, Jacobs Farm/Del Cabo recently collaborated with Fairtrasa, an organization that shares the same mission.
“That mission is to strategically partner with over 2,500 other producers, creating more economic opportunities while bringing new premium certified organic products to market and strengthening existing supplies,” added Ms. Pace.
