Worley & McCullough/Wada Farms anticipate good season for new partnership
MONTE VISTA, CO — The recent partnership between longtime San Luis Valley potato grower-shipper Worley & McCullough and Idaho’s Wada Farms Marketing Group is described as a win-win move by both parties.

Mr. McCormick and Vickie Peters, office-farm office manager, confirmed that the Colorado operation, a fourth-generation potato farm owned by Jim McCullough and sons Jason and Steven, will continue to produce spuds and source from some outside growers.
The shed, GFS-audited with Primus, is HACCP- and GAP-GHP-compliant. Depending on the year, five to eight outside growers grow for the operation, and production is focused on russet varieties such as Norkotahs and Blazers.
Mr. Wada said W&M will continue to operate the packing shed under its longstanding name while Wada conducts sales and marketing.
“Worley & McCullough has an excellent reputation,” Mr. Wada said. He noted the partnership pact meets the changing needs of major retailers. “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this agreement going into the new season. It’s a good time to do it, and it works out well for both sides. ”
Mr. McCormick said cartons will remain the same, and with both “Worley & McCullough” and “Dole” labels going out.
New this year is a tie-in with the Colorado Proud campaign, with has two-inch by two-inch tag attached to Kwik Loks. The card is printed with the promotion’s artwork on one side and the Colorado Administrative Committee’s logo and QR code linked to the committee’s website on the other. Mr. McCormick said the consumer packs are being distributed along the Front Range of the Continental Divide.
