"It is important that we keep fruit top of mind and help teach children at a young age about the importance of eating healthy," Dennis Christou, vice president of N.A. Marketing at Del Monte Fresh Produce, said in a press release. "As the Official Fresh Fruit of the Miami HEAT, it only makes sense that we be involved with the community in these types of events, where we can reach the younger demographics and get them eating healthy early!"
Orange Brook Elementary is one of South Florida's highest-scoring Title I schools in Broward County, with a long history of success on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. The school has received an "A" grade for the past nine consecutive years. The HEAT selected Orange Brook Elementary because of its great academic accomplishments and the strong support it receives from the community and dedicated staff.
