Green Tree to move quality pears
Green Tree International, headquartered in Visalia, CA, with a brokerage office in Wenatchee, WA, expects to begin marketing a quality crop of pears from the Pacific Northwest in mid-August. “Bartlett, Anjou and Bosc are the main varieties we sell,” said Brett Hull, sales associate. “But we sell all major varieties.” Bartletts will kick off the production season, with Anjous following several weeks later.
Conditions earlier in the production season were colder and wetter than is typical, and the Pacific Northwest experienced some major rain and hail storms. “It sounds like it took out more apples than pears,” he said. “It has been a good growing year. It looks like it will be a good quality year [for pears with] an average-sized crop.”
Green Tree brokers pears primarily to wholesale and foodservice customers in the continental United States. A full range of packaging is available.
