Nashville-based Produce Alliance adds new Tennessee member
Charlie Sciara & Son Produce Co. Inc., which operates in the greater Memphis, TN, market, has become the newest member of Produce Alliance.
For 64 years, Charlie Sciara & Son Produce Co. Inc. has held the philosophy that superior quality and total commitment to customer satisfaction have only been achieved by maintaining absolute control over all aspects of the business and by paying attention to detail.
In 1988, with an ever-increasing foodservice market, Sciara Produce moved to its current 50,000-square-foot location. Almost tripling its warehouse and cold-storage size, it was able to provide its customers with even greater service, an expanded product line and the addition of prepared produce items, which allowed restaurants to save time and labor costs in preparing their food items.
Sciara Produce is growing with the industry as it evolves. As an approved distributor for several managed produce programs, it is inspected by a third-party inspection service.
It has an on-site laboratory with a microbiologist on staff and takes pride in its commitment to quality and detail. "We have confidence in our new relationship with Produce Alliance," Pete Sciara of Sciara Produce said in a statement. "After meeting with Russ Wingo, we feel that by joining Produce Alliance, we will have a solid backing in gaining new accounts as well as reassurance with current accounts. Mr. Sciara came into the family business in 1974 after completing his pharmacy degree and practicing for several years. Following the death of his father, he took over the family business, now called Charlie Sciara & Son Produce Co. Inc.
