Produce Trades launches produce auction website
Produce Trades, a produce technology firm based in Grand Island, NY, recently launched its website, ProduceTrades.com. The company's auction software aims to redefine the buying, selling and transporting process for the produce industry.
Using a self-customized software bidding application, Produce Trades fills a need for a 24/7 international marketplace to connect produce buyers, sellers and transporters in one single auction platform.
"When I started to research the idea of a produce auction, I realized there really was nothing else out there like this," John Henshaw, company founder, said in a press release. "Further research illustrated that Produce Trades could virtually assist everyone who has any involvement whatsoever with produce. Consequently, Produce Trades could revolutionize the produce industry."
According to the press release, the technology automates a process that has been manual, geographically limited and constrained by local markets, weather patterns and existing relationships.
With so much attention on the quality of produce, Produce Trades provides a transparent and open environment that can unite an apple orchard in upstate New York with a trucking company in Florida and a buyer in Ohio.
"We are bringing together everyone from the farmer to the consumer to everyone in between on one playing field," Mr. Henshaw said in the release. "All involved are looking to achieve the same thing -- the best produce, the best price, the best trucker. Produce Trades becomes the best way to meet new contacts within your industry that you never even knew existed!"
After completing a transaction, buyers and sellers submit feedback ratings online to ensure fresh produce, quality relationships and timely delivery. This checks-and-balances system gives the public fresh produce delivered in a very responsive, performance-oriented fashion.
