Charles Hanline Jr. , Stambaugh & Co. vice president, dies in plane crash
Charles F. Hanline Jr., executive vice president of John F. Stambaugh & Co. Inc. in Plymouth, OH, died Sept. 18 as the result of injuries sustained when the private plane he was piloting crashed shortly after take-off from Seneca County Airport in Tiffin, OH.
Mr. Hanline was 56 and a resident of Willard, OH. He was born in Shelby, OH, and was a graduate of Plymouth High School and Ohio State University.
He had been with onion and potato grower-shipper John F. Stambaugh & Co. Inc. since 1974, having worked there with his father, Charles Hanline Sr., and son Timothy Hanline. He was also an owner in Stambaugh Packaging.
Mr. Hanline was a member of the National Onion Association, the Moose Lodge and the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. He held a private pilot's license and was instrument-rated. He served with the 179th Tactical Fighter Group of the Air National Guard in Mansfield, OH.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn Gates Hanline; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tyler Hanline and Timothy and Pamela Hanline, all of Willard; a daughter, Tracey Hanline, of St. Thomas, USVI; his father, Charles Hanline, of Plymouth; two sisters, Karen Myers and Deborah Hanline, both of Willard; and a brother, Robert Hanline, of Norwalk, OH.
Mr. Hanline was predeceased by his mother, Alice Hanline, and a brother, Earl Hanline.
Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard with burial following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
