New state-of-the-art facilities will fuel growth for Dovex
Dovex Marketing Co., based in Wenatchee, WA, is expanding its facilities to include new controlled atmosphere facilities and advanced packinglines.
Company management said that the expansion will help the company support flexible packaging systems and customized organic programs.
"The construction of the new facilities reflect the implementation of Dovex's strategic direction to differentiate itself in the marketplace," said Tracy King, director of marketing at Dovex Marketing Co., which represents organic and conventionally grown fruit for Dovex Fruit Co.
Dovex is committed to sustainable agricultural practices, and organically grown fruit now represents more than 20 percent of its 5.4 million boxes of fruit, said Mr. King.
The management team continues to invest in state-of-the-art technology and equipment to offer more packaging alternatives and superior storage facilities for apples and pears.
Dedicated organic packinglines and smaller controlled-atmosphere rooms ensure optimum freshness throughout the year to support Dovex organic programs, said Mr. King.
Dovex continues to focus on growing a broad varietal mix of organic and conventional apples and pears with the higher flavor profiles favored by consumers.
As a result, Mr. King said, Dovex is able to supply the high-demand varietal apples and pears retailers and consumers increasingly want.
The 80,000-square-foot CA facility, the 45,000-square-foot packing facility and the 30,000-square-foot shipping facility are scheduled to be completed in time for the 2005 harvest.
The new facility will include additional controlled-atmosphere rooms with 1 million-box capacity to ensure freshness; the latest generation color sorter for optimum grading; simultaneous mesh and poly bag systems for increased efficiency; enhanced handling systems to prevent product damage; and auto bin fillers for specialty packaging.
