New Vidalia manager on board
New Vidalia manager on board
Jeffery Hall, manager of the Vidalia Onion Committee in Vidalia, GA, stepped down June 30 to pursue an opportunity with National Onion Labs in Collins, GA. Set to fill the position, effective July 11, is Wendy Brannen, who has experience in television news and advertising, and a family in the agriculture industry.
"I have predominantly worked as a news journalist" in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. Ms. Brannen told The Produce News. Before taking this manager position with the committee, she had been working as an advertising executive for Northland Cable.
My family has been heavily involved in the agriculture industry, she added. Her father, Wendell Brannen, owns Tillman & Deal, which is a multi-county peanut drying facility and it is also an agricultural supply company, she said.
It is exciting for me to follow the family legacy and take part in the agriculture industry. Ms. Brannen added, I am going to have my hands in a lot of things it seems.
She will be the liaison between Vidalia onion handlers and the USDA, and representing the Vidalia sweet onion industry, I will be doing all of their marketing and promotions, launching new ideas of her own, too.
