Buona's Gale Ferranto named Pennsylvania’s Small Business Person of the Year
Gale Ferranto, owner of Buona Foods Inc., was selected as Pennsylvania’s Small Business Person of the Year for 2026.
“I am honored to be selected as Pennsylvania’s Small Business Person of the Year," she said. "Since my mother started Buona Foods, the Ferranto family has worked to build an innovative, sustainable and socially responsible company rooted in tradition, while always looking forward. I am grateful to be recognized for all of our efforts in growing, selling and promoting mushrooms grown in the Mushroom Capitol of the World. Four generations of the Ferranto family have brought Buona Foods to where we are today, and as we move forward I am proud to lead our company through a new period of growth and prosperity.”
Each year, the Small Business Administration celebrates National Small Business Week by recognizing the achievements of outstanding small business owners and entrepreneurs across the United States. All 53 winners were been invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, DC, where they were honored with their individual award along with special recognition of the runner-up and the naming of the 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year.
SBA also will co-host a free, two-day national virtual summit featuring educational business workshops and networking on May 5-6. Additionally, SBA’s 10 regions and 68 field offices will hold area recognition and educational seminars throughout the week.
