Red Sun Farms showing commitment to innovation at Southern Exposure
Red Sun Farms will highlight its latest product innovations and business development plans at this year’s Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Exposure.
“Southern Exposure is a key event for the produce industry, providing a platform to build meaningful relationships that drive long-term growth and collaboration,” said Harold Paivarinta, vice president of sales and business development for the Kingsville, ON-based company. “This unique show showcases industry innovation, fosters discussions with customers and peers, and offers valuable educational sessions on trends and consumer insights in fresh produce.”
The Red Sun Farms team will include members of its sales and leadership teams, ready to discuss key business strategies, crop updates and innovation initiatives.
“We are eager to take part in SEPC’s various events, including receptions and educational sessions, which provide valuable industry insights and opportunities for collaboration,” Paivarinta said. “As we look to the future, we remain committed to aligning our strategies with our customers’ goals and objectives, ensuring we continue to meet their evolving needs in a dynamic marketplace.”
Attendees can meet the Red Sun Farms family at booth No. 105, where they can discover the company’s commitment to innovation across the tomato category, as well as some favorite trend setters like Sweetpops and Empress Limited Edition Tomatoes.
“Consumer preferences continue to evolve, with a growing emphasis on superior flavor, texture and overall quality — particularly as shoppers make smaller, more frequent trips to the grocery store,” Paivarinta said. “At the same time, we’re seeing increased interest in wellness-focused solutions that support hydration, protein intake and fiber consumption.”
In response, the team at Red Sun Farms will be presenting recent advancements from its Chef Collection relaunch, along with updates on its strawberry genetics and breeding programs.
“Red Sun Farms is focused on thoughtfully growing and complementing these categories by developing healthy snack varieties that not only meet functional needs, but also exceed expectations for taste and texture,” Paivarinta said. “By pairing nutrition with an exceptional eating experience, we’re aligning innovation with what today’s consumers value most.”
The company’s primary expectation for SEPC events is to focus on networking and relationship-building as SEPC provides a valuable platform that unites the produce community, facilitating the renewal of existing connections, the establishment of new partnerships, educational advancements and industry collaboration.
“Our team looks forward to forging new relationships that will serve as a foundation for long-term growth and success,” Paivarinta said. “In addition to meeting with our retail partners and establishing new connections, the team is always excited to participate in the insightful educational sessions, specifically The Power of Produce. No matter the individual area of discipline, these sessions continue to produce insight and inspiration across the business.”
Paivarinta expects discussions at the show to center around how changing shopping habits and consumption patterns are reshaping demand, from pack sizes and formats to expectations around quality and value.
“Understanding how consumers are purchasing and using fresh produce today is a key topic as the market continues to evolve,” he said. “In parallel, there is significant discussion around the early challenges facing the 2026 field crop season, particularly the impact of extreme and unpredictable weather conditions. These factors have a direct impact on the greenhouse industries planning, supply forecasts, and risk management strategies, making collaboration and adaptability more important than ever across the industry.”
A successful show, in Paivarinta’s opinion, will provide the opportunity to reconnect with retail partners, align on shared goals for 2026 and initiate planning discussions for 2027.
In 2026, the Red Sun Farms team is excited to focus on product innovation, advanced greenhouse technology and sustainability to drive future growth.
“These efforts will not only drive our business forward but also contribute positively to the industry and environment,” Paivarinta said. “Innovation is driving the excitement at Red Sun Farms. We’re expanding our family, advancing new tools and product concepts and rethinking how we deliver quality and flavor.”
