Momentum surges for IMO Global Mango Conference
The global agricultural landscape is preparing for a landmark event as Will Cavan, the executive director of the International Mango Organization, leads the final preparations for the IMO Global Mango Conference.
A Nov. 6, 2025, call to action transformed months of strategic planning into a concrete global initiative, signaling to industry leaders that Ponce, Puerto Rico, would become the epicenter of the mango world in March 2026. This invitation set a clear vision for the industry, emphasizing the need for strategic growth and supply chain resilience.
The industry is currently experiencing a surge of momentum following the increased visibility of the IMO and the upcoming GMC. Under Cavan’s leadership, the industry has seen a strategic rollout of information, including the announcement of a keynote lineup and a specialized focus on transportation and logistics featuring maritime expert John D. McCown.
The GMC is an essential forum for addressing the complexities of the 2026 season. Central to this excitement is the upcoming recognition of Sergio Cedeño Amador, who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contributions to the industry.
The industry is now entering the final stretch of anticipation, with the countdown to the event’s start on March 18 reaching a critical point. With less than two months remaining until delegates convene at the Ponce Plaza Hotel, Cavan, a veteran with over 40 years of industry experience, continues to drive the conference's mission of fostering international cooperation. During the event, it is expected that the Mexican delegation will be traditionally dressed in white guayaberas, maintaining the characteristic elegance of these high-level professional gatherings.
