Giving back feels good: Beacon impatiens delivers charitable donations for 2025 season
PanAmerican Seed continued its support of charitable causes in 2025 through its Beacon Impatiens Beacon Shines the Light program, which raises awareness and provides assistance to selected nonprofit organizations each year.
For the 2025 season, Beacon Impatiens presented two charitable donations — one to esp Inc. in the United States and another to Greenfingers Charity in the United Kingdom.
Since launching in 2019, the Beacon Shines the Light program has supported more than 10 charitable organizations across multiple countries, helping build awareness and provide funding for initiatives focused on healing, comfort and hope. This year’s donations were presented at separate local events attended by leadership and supporters from esp Inc. and Greenfingers Charity, along with members of PanAmerican Seed’s international teams.
“It is always a joy to see the impact our Beacon Impatiens collaborations have on the annual charities,” said Sarah Makiejus, global marketing manager for PanAmerican Seed. “Whether it’s colorful flowers in the garden to lift spirits or the team effort it takes to build awareness and raise funds, the PanAmerican Seed family is ready for the challenge — and they always deliver.”
Both charities supported this year focus on creating meaningful, transformative experiences. Greenfingers Charity designs and builds hospice gardens for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, while esp Inc. provides empowering activities and opportunities for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

In addition to financial contributions, PanAmerican Seed donated Beacon Impatiens plants to help decorate Greenfingers hospice gardens. For esp Inc., the company designed and sold a fundraising T-shirt to build awareness, with added visibility from industry icon Dr. Alan Armitage, professor emeritus at the University of Georgia, who recommended the organization to PanAmerican Seed.
“One of the things we try to do to make life a little better for everybody is plant wonderful color and beautiful things to make people smile,” Armitage said while speaking with Makiejus at Cultivate ’25 in Columbus, Ohio. “But if you're fortunate to work with organizations that also make a difference, life is even better.”
Beacon Impatiens, a series of Impatiens walleriana with high resistance to impatiens downy mildew, is designed to bring reliable color back to shade gardens. As part of its commitment to the Beacon Shines the Light initiative, PanAmerican Seed donates to a new charitable partner each year.
A new partner will be announced for the 2026 sales season.
