Produce directors and managers as well as buyers can start to be at ease and get ready for more lettuce supplies. Ad promotions can start up again on Iceberg and leaf varieties since desert yields have improved out of Arizona. Lettuce demand is moderate along with a slightly lower market.
Iceberg, Romaine green and red leaf lettuce are all showing better weights and prices are starting to ease. Spring mix is starting to show better supplies and quality. So, get ready to plan some ads to show your customers more desirable value after weeks of higher markets. This will sustain their loyalty to remain shopping in your produce department.
Expand your lettuce section to boost sales and get back into the groove of advertising again. Consider the upcoming holiday lettuce demand for those dinner table side salads. Plan to advertise all lettuce varieties in a special section of your weekly ad flyer.
As always, discuss availability and prices with your lettuce suppliers and go after those incremental sales, especially for the holidays.
