Southeast Farms mourns Philip Beese
Philip Sheridan Beese IV, former owner of Southeast Farms Inc., died Nov. 27 following an illness. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Mr. Beese’s story is one of hard work, determination and vision. He began his career at age 14 as a bag boy at Winn-Dixie and, through dedication and leadership, became the company’s youngest store manager at just 24. At 32, Mr. Beese made the bold decision to leave Winn-Dixie and establish Southeast Farms Inc.
Through steady growth and unwavering commitment, Mr. Beese expanded the company’s market presence and ultimately built a business with nationwide reach. Under his leadership, Southeast Farms developed a network of exclusive growers stretching from south Florida to the Northeastern United States, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality fresh potatoes for customers across the country.
“My father taught me the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. That has been the foundation of Southeast Farms Inc. for over 45 years,” said company CEO Brian Beese.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Beese cherished time spent on his boat, Ace of Spuds, enjoying the water with friends and family. He was also an avid golfer who found great joy on the course.
Mr. Beese is survived by his loving wife, Libby; his two sons, Brian and Danny; his daughter, Wendy; and his sisters, Alba and Sally.
