Setton Farms pistachios cater to diverse tastes
Visitors who stop by the Setton Farms booth at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show will likely hear positive messages on a handful of topics relating to the pistachio products on display.
Innovative, on-trend flavors. A healthy snack option. Easy-to-set up displays that demand shoppers’ attention. A record California pistachio crop.
While there, IFPA attendees can sample Setton Farms’ array of unique flavored pistachio products and see how its displays can have a positive effect in the produce department.
Setton Farms sales and marketing team members from New York and California will be at booth No. 1418 on the expo floor.
“We are excited to talk about our innovative line of products, as well as the pistachio harvest, which just concluded in a record-breaking crop,” said Joseph Setton, executive vice president.
The company markets classic in-shell and roasted packs with sea salt, lightly salted and without salt, no-shell roasted with sea salt and no-shell raw pistachios. Organic Kernels and Organic In-shell pistachios (both dry roasted with sea salt) are helping to expand organic snack offerings at retail. There is a growing line of flavored nut snacks: No-shell dry roasted pistachios in assorted flavors — Buffalo Wing, Garlic Onion, Jalapeño, Salt and Pepper, Scorpion Pepper and Tajin (chili, lime and salt) Seasoning.
Setton has a Pistachio Pub Mix that includes Buffalo Wing Pistachios, crunchy ranch corn nuts, savory sesame chips and hickory almond.
A seasoned in-shell line comes in Chili Limon, Garlic Onion, Jalapeño and Salt and Pepper. A line of dark chocolate-covered pistachios, some with nut blends or fruit, is also available. Other specialty offerings include a berry blend, a mixed nuts blend and a protein blend.
“Pistachios are a nutrient dense superfood, so the addition of natural flavors, without using oil, makes them the perfect snack,” Setton said. “The pistachios’ flavor compliments a wide variety of seasonings that is sure to satisfy any craving. Setton’s newest flavor features Tajín Clásico, a bold blend of chili peppers, lime and sea salt.”
Setton Farms researches trendy flavors to ensure new seasoned products are on target.
“Setton’s R&D team is always watching the latest flavor trend reports and testing flavors that we think our consumers would love,” Setton said. “We are always keeping our pulse on the industry to identify which flavors are fads and which have staying power. This lets us produce a calculated mix of tried-and-true classic flavors like Salt & Pepper, as well as hot creations like Scorpion Pepper.”
Fueled by social media posts and print media coverage, Dubai Chocolate is creating a big demand for the company’s no-shell naturally Raw Pistachio Kernels in a 5-ounce resealable bag, he said.
“This convenient snack offers fans a fresh-from-the-orchard taste and texture that is unique to raw pistachios,” Setton said. “We believe that raw pistachios will soon be a staple on shelf alongside other nuts like almonds, pecans and walnuts.”
The company recently announced a new processing facility in Zamora, CA.
“With Setton’s new Zamora processing facility we can reduce our use of fuels during transport and lower our overall carbon footprint,” Setton said. “This facility has also created new jobs and stimulates the local economy. The expanded processing capacity will better serve all our northern growers.”
