Kurt Zuhlke & Associates continues to champion sustainable packaging
Kurt Zuhlke, president and CEO of Kurt Zuhlke & Associates, is well known in the produce packaging industry.
His company, based in Easton, PA, manufactures more than 40 different types of packaging for produce. Through Zuhlke’s leadership and extensive industry expertise, he helps retailers identify the optimal packaging solutions to attract consumers and encourage repeat business.
A staunch advocate for Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) packaging, he emphasizes its crucial role in sustaining the recycling loop and reducing landfill waste. As interest in eco-friendly packaging continues to grow, Zuhlke is optimistic about the trend gaining momentum.
“Our company’s motto has always been to ‘recycle and reuse,’” Zuhlke said. “Once a product has been used, we clean, grind and repurpose it to create new materials.”
Many growers and suppliers utilize their packaging to meet specific customer requirements, while retailers increasingly repack at the store level to customize their offerings. Zuhlke values all segments of the industry and remains committed to advancing sustainable packaging solutions that benefit both businesses and the environment.
So, as he prepares to walk the Anaheim Convention Center for the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show, Zuhlke knows he’ll be talking a great deal about these sustainable solutions.
“I like to walk the show, see my customers, look for new business and just have a grand time with all the people at the show,” he said.
Zuhlke will be headed to IFPA Global after attending Pack Expo in Las Vegas just a couple of weeks prior. While there, he talked with industry experts about new innovations and what the future of produce packaging would be, and he’s constantly looking for better ways to bring sustainable packaging to his customers.
“I’m looking at new items to show,” he said. “I’m always looking to grow.”
Joining Zuhlke at IFPA Global will be his son, Christopher, who joined the company full-time earlier this year and will be looking forward to networking and helping his dad talk about what’s happening at the company.
“We’re having a good year and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next,” Zuhlke said.
