Manfredi Cold Storage continues to grow
Manfredi Cold Storage is a family-owned-and-operated third-party logistics provider specializing in temperature-controlled storage, repacking, refrigerated freight and additional services for the produce industry.
“Manfredi has been actively growing all aspects of its business, including warehouse space, repack space and equipment and transportation — both port drayage and customer deliveries — at both of our locations in the Philadelphia region,” said Rob Wharry, director of operations for the company. “Our goal is to be able to grow and evolve to keep pace with the changing global produce industry.”
The IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show is one of the events that the company attends annually.
“It is the perfect place to allow us to see our customers as well as some of our vendors face to face all in one place,” said Jaclyn Manfredi. “Since Manfredi Cold Storage is a service provider, it makes networking so important. With so many of our customers also attending the IFPA event, it allows us to get in front of our customers and be able to let them know what we have in the works. It also allows us the opportunity to get direct feedback from our customers that we can then take back to our team.”
A show like this, therefore, takes a lot of preparation to ensure that the Manfredi team gets the most out of attending.
“Our strategy is to be able to spend as much time with our customers as we can and get feedback from them on how we can continue to offer services that will allow them to have a successful business,” Wharry said.
It’s been a busy year for the company, as it’s expanding at both its Pennsylvania and New Jersey facilities.
“In Pennsylvania, we are adding two additional temperature-controlled rooms for 2,000 additional pallet positions, bringing us to a total of 32,000 pallet positions of storage capacity in Kennett Square,” Manfredi said. “These will be online fall of this year.”
At its Pedricktown, NJ, location, site work is complete for an additional 10,000 pallet positions. All electric and refrigeration infrastructure is currently in place.
“Construction is under way for an additional 2,000 pallets at this time and we are adding another 15,000 square feet of packing area,” Manfredi said. “The construction of the additional 8,000 pallet positions will start once we have secured a new customer for this space. Our dry storage building, which is holding our customers packaging for their repacking programs, opened in the first quarter of 2025. Our new driver lounge and cafeteria is still under construction, but we are nearing final stages, and we are planning to open before end of this year.”
Manfredi is also reviewing ripening capabilities and planning to add ripening capacity to both locations in the near future. The Manfredi team is excited to talk with those at the show about all that’s ahead at the company.
