Mission showcases avocado, mango leadership at Fruit Attraction
Mission Produce Inc.'s global team from the United Kingdom, Europe, the U.S. and Peru will showcase its avocados and mangos at the Fruit Attraction Trade Show in Madrid, Spain, Sept. 30–Oct. 2.
“Mission Produce is the go-to supplier for high-quality avocados and mangos in the Europe and U.K. markets due to our world-class standard of quality and reliability,” said Paul Frowde, managing director of Mission Produce Europe and U.K. “Our global network continues to expand, and our industry-leading ripening continues to advance, strengthening our ability to deliver a reliable, year-round supply of ripe fruit.”
This year, Mission Produce inaugurated a state-of-the-art packinghouse in Guatemala, complementing the company’s more than 700 hectares of vertically integrated avocado groves in the country. As avocado supply transitions from Peru to Guatemala, the company is using its new facility to enhance quality control at the source, streamline shipments and elevate customer service.
In the coming months, avocado supply to Europe and the U.K. will be coming from Guatemala, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, South Africa and Morocco. Mango supply will primarily come from Brazil, featuring the Palmer, Kent and Osteen varieties. Mission Produce’s global network consists of 21-plus growing regions, five of which are vertically integrated.
“Beyond supply, we have the ripening expertise to drive demand for ripe-and-ready avocados and mangos at retail, enabling us to provide a distinguished level of service to our customers,” said Frowde. “Our dedicated Ripe Masters ripen fruit perfectly to specification, no matter the season — this is a game changer for both avocados and mangos in Europe and the U.K."
Mission’s ripening programs are backed by 40 years of expertise and leverage a data-driven approach to create the optimal ripening environment for fruit from every origin. In the U.K. market specifically, the company’s innovative Mission Control ripening technology has improved quality consistency for avocados by up to 38 percent, setting a new standard for ripe avocados in the market.
