Fresh Italian chestnuts highlight Trucco’s fall season
When autumn approaches so do the Italian chestnuts from Trucco. While Trucco has ready- to-eat chestnuts available year-round, the arrival of fresh chestnuts in the fall is a special time.
“Chestnuts are deeply meaningful at Trucco,” said Yasmin Pacia, chief marketing officer for the New York-based company. “They symbolize the beginnings of our company and remind us of family, friends and the value of strong relationships. Alongside chestnuts, we continue to prioritize all our seasonal items, ensuring a steady supply through global sourcing.”
Beyond fresh Italian chestnuts, Pacia said Trucco’s core commodities continue to show strong performance, supported by well-established programs and partnerships around the world.
“The strength of these programs isn’t just about logistics; it’s about building long-term trust with partners who share our values and our commitment to quality,” she said.
With imports from multiple origins, Trucco is able to maintain continuity for its customers, so they can always count on consistency and quality. Providing excellent service has always been the foundation of Trucco’s success, and Pacia said adhering to that belief continues to help Trucco retain long-standing partners while welcoming new ones.
“Looking ahead, we expect steady growth through 2025 and 2026 as we expand our reach, strengthen our core programs, and introduce new offerings,” she said. “Growth for us isn’t just about volume — it’s about building relationships rooted in trust, the same values that have guided us since the very beginning.”
Trucco operates two distinct facilities that serve different markets. Its Vineland, NJ, state-of-the-art 180,000 sq. ft. facility offers pristine cold storage and production space, serving primarily large retailers. It includes 6,500 pallet capacity, 28 dock doors, seven temperature-controlled rooms, rollback rack storage, on-site quality control inspection and ethylene management.
“Since our expansion project was completed, the Vineland facility now has the capacity and technology to support both our own growth and our customers’ evolving needs,” said Pacia. “This includes advanced storage, expanded inspection capacity, and robust logistics capabilities that allow us to deliver with greater efficiency and reliability. Every investment we make, whether in space, technology, or people, is tied back to the same goal: serving our customers and honoring the relationships that have shaped our company.”
When building the Vineland facility sustainability was top of mind. Key initiatives include:
- Water-efficient technology in facility operations
- Packaging innovations, such as clamshells made from 70 percent-plus RPET (recycled water bottles)
- Waste separation for recycling and composting
- Certifications: PrimusGFS, GFSI, Fair Trade Certified, USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified
Through these efforts, and with Fair Trade growers implementing local sustainability practices, Trucco is working to create measurable benefits both for the environment and for the communities it serves.
“For Trucco, sustainability is about leaving behind a stronger, healthier foundation for the next generation — just as previous generations built a foundation of values and trust for us,” said Pacia.
The Hunts Point Market facility is dedicated to wholesalers and supports the needs of the NYC tri-state area. In addition, Trucco’s sister company, TruFresh Logistics, located in New Jersey, provides reliable third-party logistics for non-climacteric commodities.
“These facilities not only give us capacity but also help us honor the trust customers place in us by ensuring their products are handled with care and delivered with precision,” said Pacia.
