GLC Cerritos completes Ethical Charter Implementation enrollment
GLC Cerritos LLC recently completed its enrollment of farms and packing facility with the Ethical Charter Implementation Program. ECIP aligns growers, distributors and buyers around socially responsible labor practices.
ECIP allows users to learn, assess and benchmark current practices. It also gives retailers a central location to review where their supply chain is investing in social responsibility.
GLC Cerritos’ extensive avocado-growing operations each qualified with a gold star, which is available to those growers who are previously enrolled in one of 16 approved certifications.
The mission of GLC Cerritos is “to inspire fellow growers through sustainability to grow healthy food.” As part of the company’s culture of continuous improvement the farms are each enrolled with Global GAP, the Rainforest Alliance, and Fair Trade USA.
“As a supplier it is key to have a significant portion of the grower base active and engaged,” GLC Cerritos said in a statement. “Through continuous improvement, ECIP-approved suppliers set themselves apart in the market.”
Building on the culture of transparency, GLC Cerritos also recently hosted members of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to discuss farm labor in Mexico. Later this month the company will publish its inaugural Sustainability Report.
