Vase Care
The outer petals of roses, known as guard petals, often look different from the inner ones. These naturally occurring petals are sometimes removed by florists for a cleaner appearance, though they can also enhance a naturalistic look when left in place. To remove guard petals, simply hold each one firmly and give a gentle tug.
For open blooms, plan ahead by ordering roses to arrive three to five days before the event. Upon arrival, unpack the roses and place them in a flower solution in a container that allows space between the heads. Keep them at room temperature until they reach the desired stage of openness, then store in a cooler until needed.
Be sure to remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline.
If roses arrive dry-packed, trim at least 1 inch off the stems using clean, sanitized clippers or a knife.
