NuBerry Farms champion jumbo blueberry program
NuBerry Farms is a true 52-week berry supplier, with domestic production in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Michigan, and import operations based in Peru to ensure consistent, year-round availability.
The company also owns packing facilities in Georgia, New Jersey and Michigan, so it’s truly vertically integrated and a year-round blueberry company.
The company specializes in conventional and organic blueberries, available in a full range of pack sizes — including its variety specific, Sweetest Pick packs. It also offers a locally grown Georgia blackberry program.
“We’re especially excited about our premium Jumbo blueberry program and our variety specific pack, Sweetest Pick. Both offerings are a premium pack that generate a lot of buzz and positive feedback from consumers at the store level,” said Jason Rudd, vice president of sales and marketing. “Combined with our import program, we’re able to offer our customers a consistent, 52-week supply of fresh blueberries.”
The company participates in the Jersey Fresh program and has Vineland, NJ, on its label, as it embraces each region that it is in.
“New Jersey’s central location makes it a strategic hub for East Coast distribution,” said Ali Dandrea, sales for NuBerry Farms. “With a strong customer base in South Jersey and excellent trucking lanes, we can easily fulfill smaller or urgent pallet orders and maintain efficient delivery throughout the region.”
The company has a nice mix of retail, foodservice and wholesale business.
“A successful partnership is rooted in mutual trust, open communication, adaptability and shared goals,” Dandrea said. “Our goal is to make our customers’ jobs easier by staying closely aligned on market conditions, ensuring timely truck deliveries and consistently delivering high-quality, great-tasting blueberries.”
The company has a lot of business in the Northeast and also does a great deal down south, thanks to its Florida operations, with Fru-Veg based in Miami.
“A great team is built on trust, collaboration, accountability and a shared commitment to our customers,” Dandrea said. “Our team’s success comes from staying aligned, communicating openly and always putting the customer first.”
One of the biggest challenges for the company this year has been the impact of weather on the domestic crop.
“Florida’s production was delayed and was down year-over-year, while Georgia faced setbacks from a hurricane earlier this year and significant rainfall,” Dandrea said. “We’re addressing these challenges by closely monitoring field conditions and leveraging our diversified sourcing strategy to maintain supply continuity. Strong communication with our customers also ensures transparency and effective planning throughout the season.”
The company sees plenty of growth opportunities ahead as it continues being a strong force in the industry.
“We’re focused on expanding our premium offerings into a year-round supply,” Dandrea said. “We have also made significant investments in our farm production in Peru. Our growth strategy centers on delivering consistent quality, enhancing customer relationships and investing in innovation to meet evolving market demands.”
Rudd noted the overall state of the industry is strong, with plenty of room for continued growth.
“We’re closely watching trends around varietal innovation and geographical diversification, both of which play a key role in meeting consumer demand and ensuring consistent supply,” he said.
