NEPC hosts Top Golf event with leadership educational session
The New England Produce Council hosted a well-attended Top Golf event Wednesday, May 14, at the Top Golf site in Canton, MA, sponsored by RPE, Taylor Farms, Suja/Vive, T. Marzetti and R2Fresh Solutions.
Maher of Roche Bros., Tom Jenkins of JOH and Mark Leone of Giorgio.
The day began with an afternoon educational session for the NEPC Leadership Class. Effective Communication in the Workplace was presented by Amanda Hennessey, founder of Boston Public Speaking, renowned public speaking coach and author of Your Guide to Public Speaking. Hennessey offered many take-aways for the class and focused on mindset when preparing for a public speaking engagement and how to boost your confidence.
The event continued with a dinner meeting and sponsor presentations, followed by an evening of golf. Mark Jewell, NEPC board member and representative from Hannaford, welcomed attendees and shared reminders about two upcoming NEPC events: the annual golf tournament on July 22 at Indian Pond Country Club, and the Produce, Floral & Food Service Expo on Aug. 18–19 at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett, MA.
Jewell then introduced event sponsors Scott Casciano, foodservice sales manager, and Doug Sowells, retail sales account manager, both at Taylor Farms, who presented the company’s retail product offerings. Their presentation highlighted Taylor Farms’ focus on innovation and its plans for continued growth in the Northeast market, including New England.
"Thank you for having us at the NEPC Top Golf event,” said Sowells. “It was a tremendous event, and it was great spending time with everyone. We at Taylor Farms are grateful for the opportunity to share some of our innovation with the group. We are excited for what's ahead."
Jody Cnossen, executive vice president of sales, and Juliet Moran, senior director of grocery sales and NY Market Team Lead, presented on behalf of Suja Life, a leading manufacturer and marketer of plant-based, cold-pressed juices and functional beverages. Their portfolio includes Suja Organic and Vive Organic brands, known for harnessing the power of organic, non-GMO, plant-based ingredients. Cnossen also highlighted the most recent addition to their portfolio, Slice, a functional soda widely available nationally as well as in the New England market.
“We have been proud members of the New England Produce Council for several years, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to sponsor this event and share more about Slice, Suja and Vive Organic with our peers in the industry,” said Cnossen.
The evening continued with a delicious dinner and lots of fun. “A special thank you to Michael O’Connor of R2Fresh Solutions and Bob McGowan of Affinity for coordinating the sponsors for this great event," said NEPC Executive Director Laura Sullivan.
