Doug Fisher joins Markon in director role
Markon has hired Doug Fisher as the new director of multi-unit sales. A seasoned leader with deep roots in California’s Salinas Valley, Fisher brings more than three decades of produce industry experience. After graduating from Salinas High School, Fisher went on to study in San Diego and Fresno before returning home to begin his produce career as a broker.
Fisher’s journey through the fresh produce world has taken him from the fields of Salinas to the Rockies, where he opened and operated a foodservice produce warehouse in Bozeman, MT. He returned to Salinas to join Pro*Act, eventually serving as director of business development before departing in 2020.
His recent roles have included vice president of insights at Produce IQ, where he helped develop cutting-edge marketplace and procurement tools for buyers, and most recently, a return to the brokerage desk with Produce West in Salinas.
“When we hire someone at Markon, we’re looking not just for experience and skills, which Doug brings in ample supply, but we seek someone who embodies the values Markon espouses," said Markon CEO Andy Hamilton. "Throughout our in-depth screening process, we all could tell Doug would fit splendidly into the Markon culture and embrace our member-driven approach. Moreover, Doug brings an analytical approach, which in our data-driven age, will add insight to our members and to our multi-unit customers across North America.”
