Fresh produce executive Chris Williams dies at 44
Christopher (Chris) Williams, a respected executive in the food industry and vice president of sales at Rä Foods, died Thursday, March 20 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 44.
Mr. Williams dedicated his career to the food industry, beginning in 2004 with sales and customer development at Tyson Foods. His journey continued with key roles in marketing, sales and business management at WhiteWave Foods, Danone, Fishpeople Seafood and Mikey’s LLC. In 2023, he joined Rä Foods as vice president of sales, representing the Wild About Sprouts and Wild About Mixmi brands.
“Chris’s professional impact and insights were unique, lasting, and remarkable,” said Barry Didato, CEO of Rä Foods. “He was integral to the expansion of our brands across the U.S. and touched every aspect of the business.”
Known for his unwavering dedication and exceptional work ethic, Mr. Williams left an indelible mark on his colleagues. “Chris’s kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others were at the core of who he was,” said Jeff Sholl, owner of Rä Foods. “His infectious smile, laugh and optimistic outlook inspired everyone he met. I was humbled by the courage and positivity Chris showed throughout his battle. His strength will stay with me forever.”
Despite facing an aggressive cancer, Mr. Williams maintained his characteristic determination and positivity.
“He was a true people person who brought a can-do attitude to everything,” said Annette Johnson, a coworker at Rä Foods. “The only thing he couldn’t overcome was cancer. The world was better with Chris in it, and I feel for anyone who didn’t have the privilege of knowing him.”
A graduate of Auburn University in Alabama, Mr. Williams earned a degree in animal and dairy science. His large network of friends, family and business colleagues cherished his enthusiasm and warmth.
Mr. Williams is survived by his loving husband, parents, siblings and pets.
