NWA partnership to better navigate labor policy and compliance
The National Watermelon Association announced a new partnership with JPH Law Firm, establishing an ongoing resource to help NWA members navigate the complexities of H-2A and other labor policies, laws and regulations.
Labor challenges continue to be one of the most pressing concerns for the agricultural industry, particularly as regulatory requirements evolve. This partnership ensures that NWA members have direct access to reliable legal counsel to help them remain compliant and informed.
"This partnership with JPH Law Firm represents a major step forward in our efforts to support our members in one of the most critical areas of their business," said George Szczepanski, executive director of NWA. "Navigating labor laws — especially H-2A regulations — can be overwhelming, and having a trusted expert just a phone call away will be an invaluable resource for our industry."
Shawn Packer, principal member at JPH Law Firm, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: "We are thrilled to partner with the National Watermelon Association to offer direct legal support to its members. The agricultural labor landscape is complex and constantly changing, and our goal is to provide NWA members with the clarity and confidence they need to successfully manage their workforce. We look forward to working together to ensure they have the guidance and support necessary to thrive."
Packer is well-versed in the field of labor law, having worked for the U.S. Department of Labor for nearly four years, beginning as an attorney-adviser to the solicitor of labor in 2017 and then serving as senior counselor to the assistant secretary for employment and training until January 2021.
Through this partnership, NWA members will be able to connect with JPH Law Firm for expert insights, compliance strategies and solutions tailored to their specific labor concerns, reinforcing the association’s commitment to delivering real, practical value to its members.
