Salyer American adds to executive team, moves headquarters to Monterey
Salyer American Fresh Foods Inc. has hired Allan Sabatier as its senior vice president of sales and marketing. He joined the company about a month ago, according to Eric Schwartz, president of Salyer American and chief operations officer for SK Foods Group.
Most recently Mr. Sabatier was executive vice president of sales and marketing for Irwindale, CA-based Ready Pac Produce Inc. Previously, he worked for eight years for Monterey, CA-based Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. For five of those years at Dole he worked under Mr. Schwartz as vice president of sales and marketing.
Salyer American is seeking to hire a vice president of marketing as well as four more salespeople. As of Tuesday, Dec. 9, the company appeared close to filling two of the four sales slots, Mr. Schwartz said.
The hiring activity coincides with the recent move of Salyer American's headquarters for its sales, marketing and agricultural operations from Portola Drive in Salinas to the nearby Ryan Ranch office complex in Monterey, CA. The new location roughly doubles the company's space, to 10,000 square feet from 5,000 square feet, Mr. Schwartz said.
"We had outgrown that [Salinas] space and needed a bigger office to house the current and expected growth of new hires," Mr. Schwartz told The Produce News. "We are in a growth mode, and the first step was to bring in more people, focusing on marketing and sales first."
