Mexican trade delegation to visit West Coast companies
A trade delegation of four buyer-importers from Mexico will visit the Salinas, CA, and Fresno, CA, areas before traveling to Portland, OR, in upcoming days.
Grower-shippers are encouraged to meet with and pitch their products to the delegation. Suitable products to promote include vegetables, fresh fruits such as apples, grapes, kiwi and stone fruit, as well as value-added produce products and specialty produce products.
Any meetings held in Salinas would involve the delegation visiting individual companies Monday, Nov. 17, only. In the Fresno area, the delegation will make site visits to companies Tuesday, Nov. 18. On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the event organizer -- Centers for International Trade Development -- will host the buyers and interested grower-shippers from 9 a.m. to noon at its office at 390 West Fir Ave. in Clovis, CA.
Participating companies are encouraged to be export-ready, bring samples and product lists to events, and be prepared to discuss pricing. Benefits from participating in the activity include meeting with retail produce buyers and importers to discuss product lines and determine market interests and applicability for products. The opportunity exists for one-on-one meetings with buyers from major importers and food retail chains.
There is no fee to participate. The California-based Centers for International Trade Development is working in concert with the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association, based in Vancouver, WA.
Following the Fresno area visit, the delegation will fly to Portland, OR, for meetings with grower-shippers there. Oregon pear suppliers are a major focus for the delegation in visiting Oregon, according to Alicia Rios, international trade specialist for the Centers for International Trade Development.
Interested parties can register before or on the day that the delegation visits their area. For more about the event or to register, contact the Center for International Trade Development at 559/324-6401 or 888/638-7888, or send an e-mail to Ms. Rios at [email protected].
