No shortage of jumbos and colossals out of Washington
Citing a "short supply of colossals across the country," Sweet Clover Sales Manager Bill Brownfield said from his Walla Walla, WA, office that "it's our time to shine" with jumbos and colossals in both Red Wing reds and Sweet Clover Sweets.
Mr. Brownfield said that 25-pound cartons of Red Wing single-centers in jumbos and colossals were moving briskly in early September. Shipping had started Aug. 11, and he said that Sweet Clover will have "continuous sweet yellows through February or March."
He noted that supplies are very good. "We have plenty of jumbos in all categories," he said. "We also have colossals."
Known for its predominantly single-center Red Wing onion, Sweet Clover is shipping that foodservice and retail favorite along with all its other varieties in 25- and 40-pound cartons, 40-pound RPCs and 25- and 50-pound sacks, as well as in consumer packs, 2,000-pound totes and bins.
Another big mover for the company is its organic line, with demand on the rise. Pat Brownfield works the organic sales desk.
Organics are produced by Grotz Bros. in Hermiston, OR, and the Red Wings are produced by Grigg & Sons in Quincy, OR.
The Sweet Clover Sweets are guaranteed sweet through testing by multiple labs and are "American-grown product by American farmers," shipping from Washington locations.
Labels are "Sweet Clover," "Columbia Pride," "White Tiger," "Basin Best" and "Quincy Queen."
