WASHINGTON -- United Fresh Produce Association has named Miriam S. Miller as its new director of membership, adding a full-time staff position devoted to growing and supporting the association's membership.
Ms. Miller will work closely with Jeff Oberman, vice president of industry relations, to grow United's membership base and assist members with maximizing the benefit of United's services.
"It is great to have Miriam on the United Fresh team. She has skills and experience that will help us increase services and support to all of our members," Mr. Oberman said in a July 21 press release. "Miriam will help us continue to deliver more personal value to current members and their business."
He added, "In addition to working with current members, Miriam will assist other companies in learning about the value of United Fresh membership and participating in our many programs and services, including our Washington Public Policy Conference" set for Sept. 10-12.
Ms. Miller previously served as manager of membership and outreach services for the National Association of College & University Attorneys, where she oversaw the association's member recruitment and retention efforts. Her responsibilities included the development of association membership marketing campaigns and new member orientation programs, administration of membership data, and administration of membership policy and procedures.
Prior to joining that association in 2003, Ms. Miller worked as manager of strategy and operations at The Advisory Board Co., a health care best practices research firm. In this capacity, she coordinated member outreach and communications for the advisory board's business development and account management teams.
United Fresh opened its Western regional Office in 2001, which has been managed by Mr. Oberman since that time. "Jeff has done a great job heading up our field membership services from the West Coast, and we're delighted that Miriam will now help Jeff do the same from the East Coast," United Fresh President Tom Stenzel said in the press release.
"I am excited to have the opportunity to serve United Fresh membership, added Ms. Miller. "As a volunteer with hunger prevention programs in the Washington area, United Fresh's mission of promoting the growth and success of produce companies, and its commitment to increasing consumption and access to fresh produce, is personally meaningful to me. I truly welcome the opportunity to use my skills as an association membership professional to support United Fresh's work."
Ms. Miller started her work at United Fresh July 14. She currently serves as a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership's Membership Section Council.
