Oppenheimer adds to sales team
Vancouver-based marketer The Oppenheimer Group has welcomed two familiar faces back to its sales force.
Larry Hanson rejoined the company's Los Angeles sales team March 17. Additionally, David Cheung has returned to a sales role at the company's headquarters in Vancouver.
Mr. Hanson, who sold the full range of Oppenheimer produce from its Los Angeles office starting in June 2004, relocated to the Salinas, CA, area to be closer to his family in December 2005. There he worked as a sales manager for Premium Valley Produce Inc. until the middle of 2007, when he moved to a sales role at Tanimura & Antle.
"Larry's familiarity with our customers, products and systems will enable him to hit the ground running," Eric Coty, sales manager for Oppenheimer in Los Angeles, said in a press release. "We're very pleased to have Larry and his expertise back with us."
Mr. Hanson's experience entails two decades in the retail sector, including two years spent managing the Safeway Inc. buying office in Honolulu. He moved to the supplier side of the business in 2002 when he joined Salinas- based NewStar Fresh Foods LLC in a sales capacity.
North of the border, Oppenheimer welcomes the return of Mr. Cheung, a 25- year industry veteran. Like Mr. Hanson, he brings both retail and produce- marketing expertise to the role. He joins Oppenheimer for the second time, fresh from a position as a district produce specialist for H.Y. Louie Co. Ltd., based in Burnaby, BC. Mr. Cheung first joined Oppenheimer in March 2006 as a sales representative until July 2007. His pre-Oppenheimer career includes over a decade as a produce buyer for the Overwaitea Food Group of Vancouver.
"David is very well respected in the western Canadian produce community," Walt Breeden, Oppenheimer's Vancouver sales manager, said in the press release. "His return will be welcomed not only by his colleagues at our company but also by our customers."
