Produce veteran Dave Anderson joins Superior Sales
Dave Anderson joined Superior Sales Inc. in Salinas, CA, as a produce broker/salesperson Feb. 3.
Mr. Anderson will handle a full line for the company, where he said commodities include "lettuce, Romaine, all the leaf lettuces, melons, dry onions, potatoes, veggies -- if a customer asks for it, we try to find it to make sure their need is covered."
Among its customers, Superior sells to terminal markets in Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, and to foodservice and retail. Mr. Anderson is a 34-year veteran of the produce industry, and before coming to Superior Sales, he was in the brokering business in the Salinas- area for 19 years.
"I've done everything in this business there is to be done - loaded trucks, you name it," he said. "I've worked all 34 years in the Salinas Valley."
He has also lived in the Salinas Valley for 45 years, the last 29 with his wife, Donna. The couple will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary June 17 and have two children: a daughter, Erica, 25, and a son, Blake, 22. "Both are in college studying to be teachers," Mr. Anderson said.
Outside work, Mr. Anderson is active in the community officiating for high school and college football games and for high school wrestling. "My wife says I do that most of the time anyway and I just come to work to get a break," he joked.
In his leisure time, he plays golf and enjoys fishing and spending time with his family. "Family is always number one," he said.
