Pride of New York features members in ad campaign
The Pride of New York Program?s marketing campaign, entitled "Portraits in Pride," promotes consumer awareness of the Pride of New York brand through the generations of family farms and food processors that have made New York state one of America?s leading suppliers of food and agricultural products.
?There is no question that the "pride? in Pride of New York emanates from our more than 1,200 members," said Nathan L. Rudgers, agriculture commissioner of New York. "The "Portraits in Pride? campaign enables the program to showcase the diversity of New York state?s growers and food processors and the tremendous sense of pride they have in bringing quality foods to our homes and tables."
In addition to featuring various members of the program, "Portraits in Pride? also urges consumers to support New York farmers and food producers by looking and asking for Pride of New York products where they shop.
For 105 years, the Fix family has taken pride in the ever-expanding orchards on their Columbia County farm located in the heart of the Hudson Valley.
The first orchards were planted with apples and sweet and sour cherries when John Henry Fix arrived from Germany. Through the years, the family added more varieties of apples, plus peaches and pears. Today, Fix Bros. Fruit Farm has a booming wholesale operation and is a popular destination for those wishing to pick their own tree-ripened fruit.
The 100-acre farm is now in the hands of the Fix family?s fourth generation " Bobby, Gary and David " along with their father. Bobby?s sons, Steve and Brad, are also on the farm, working the land as the fifth generation to carry on the family?s legacy.
