Growers Express and Capurro Farms in discussions about partnership
Salinas, CA-based Growers Express and nearby Moss Landing, CA-based Capurro Farms are in discussions about a possible partnership between the two companies, Growers Express President and Chief Executive Officer Jamie Strachan confirmed to The Produce News Tuesday, Nov. 20.
"We're trying to figure out if there's a fit and where there's a fit," said Mr. Strachan, who characterized the discussions as "positive."
"We don't have a first draft of a legal document in any way, shape or form," Mr. Strachan said of discussions between the companies. Should a deal materialize, Capurro would become a partner in Growers Express. Capurro "approached us with an open mind," he said.
Mr. Strachan said that Capurro has "a deep history, a great customer base and a nice breadth of products." Both companies are determining each other's strengths and pondering what the value of a relationship would be, he said.
In concert with that, both companies are looking at the potential partnership in terms of value to their customers and the value of each other's customer base, Mr. Strachan said, adding that if a deal materializes, it's "going to create a lot of value."
