New York growers introduce 'Apples to Apples' consumer variety guide
The New York Apple Association in Fishers, NY, has launched a new variety guide and merchandising display that makes it easy for retailers to promote the excellent eating qualities of "Apple Country" apples.
"These are the most beautiful p-o-s materials we've ever created," Jim Allen, president of the association, said in a press release. "We're already getting hundreds of requests from retailers to put these up in their produce aisles."
The new guides feature information on 20 of New York's more popular apple varieties including the health benefits of eating apples, consumer handling tips and recipes.
The variety guides share the same graphic look and feel as new apple bin wrap introduced earlier this year by the association. This will give a unified, consistent in-store presence to promote "Apple Country" apples.
The new guides come with a display-ready box that makes it easy for retailers to offer them in the produce section. "We're really excited about the fact that we have a display-ready box for the variety guides," Mr. Allen said in the release.
The guides and the accompanying display box are available by calling the association at 585/924-2171. Retailers can view the guides on-line at www.nyapplecountry.com/varietyguidebin.htm.
