CAIA 'spreads' good cheer at Rose Bowl tailgate party
UCLA and Notre Dame college football tailgaters feasted on free hot dogs and hamburgers featuring the creamy taste of Chilean Hass avocados during the Chilean Avocado Importers Association's first-ever college football tailgate party Oct. 6 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
Before the game's kickoff, college football fans devoured "AvoDogs" and "AvoBurgers" -- sandwiches that featured a creamy spread of mashed Chilean Hass avocados in the Lot H parking lot. More than 250 lucky tailgaters received a special seven-inch vinyl football they tossed around with their family and friends.
"It was wonderful to see thousands of families enjoying Chilean Hass avocados and having such a fun time before the game. What a great family atmosphere," Maggie Bezart, marketing director of CAIA, said in a press release. "Our hope is that football fans everywhere will enjoy having fresh Chilean Hass avocados spread on their hot dogs, hamburgers and other sandwiches as they support their favorite team during tailgate parties at the stadium or at home."
CAIA's college football tailgate promotion is part of its overall commitment to support amateur sports in the United States. Earlier this year, CAIA announced a long-term partnership with the American Youth Soccer Organization, the largest youth soccer organization in the United States. On Friday, Oct. 5, CAIA honored the Westwood Bruin Touchdown Club at a special breakfast for its support of UCLA athletics.
The CAIA represents the growers and importers of Chilean Hass avocados and promotes them through retail programs, advertising and public relations activities during the Chilean season, August through February.
Chilean Hass avocados are available throughout the fall and winter, when California avocados are out of season.
