Reliable Organics gets funding
Reliable Organics, an organic tomato-farming company based in Cedar Creek, TX, has reached terms for $2 million in funding from the investment firm Venio Capital Partners.
The funding will enable Reliable Organics to more than double its current production of locally grown organic greenhouse tomatoes the first year and then double again in 2008. The facility is currently a half-acre in size, and will expand to a full acre. It will produce approximately 10,000 pounds per week per acre.
"The funds will allow us to do more than just increase production," Steven Crider, founder and chief executive officer of Reliable Organics, said in a press release. "It will also help us to further develop our technology of locally grown organic produce adaptable anywhere in the nation. Our model calls for us to be locally grown in whatever market we enter. The increase in our production will allow us to sell our produce to a select few retailers and restaurants."
Reliable Organics was founded in September 2005 as a producer of fresh, flavorful organic tomatoes for the Austin, TX, region. With the support of Venio Capital Partners, Reliable Organics will work toward fine-tuning its greenhouse technology and intellectual property needed to produce organic tomatoes and other produce. Reliable Organics has been certified organic since March 2006.
