New Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide available to retail from USA Pears
New Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide available to retail from USA Pears
How do consumers crave their pears? Crunchy and tart? Moist and mildly sweet? Bursting with sweetness and juice?
Throughout the ripening process, the Bartlett pear fits each of these delicious flavor and texture characteristics, and a new tool called the Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide from Portland, OR-based USA Pears will help consumers determine when their Bartlett pears have reached the ripeness level they prefer.
The guide features colored panels with die-cut windows through which one can view the skin color of a Bartlett pear when held against the fruit. Ripeness is determined by matching the current shade of green or yellow skin on the pear to that of the guide. Consumers can use the guide to help them to choose their desired levels of ripeness at the store and then determine their personal perfect level of ripeness for eating Bartlett pears at home.
The Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide comes in two formats: One is approximately the size of a credit card for consumers to carry in their wallets and the other is larger and pear-shaped with a metal eyelet included so that retailers can affix it by chain to a Bartlett pear display for consumer use while in the produce department.
Retailers may request a free sample pair of the Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guides at http://store.usapears.com or by contacting the Pear Bureau Northwest by mail at 4382 SE International Way, Suite A, Milwaukie, OR 97222 or by phone at 503/652-9720.
