Maxco receives export approval for new sustainable package system
Maxco Supply, a provider of fresh produce packaging and packaging machinery based in Parlier, CA, has received export certification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for one of its newest sustainable corrugated containers.
Maxco's Long Term Storage system for table grapes has been approved by the USDA for export to the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, according to a company press release.
The LTS system is a sustainable packaging alternative to expanded polystyrene or hard plastic containers. Reflecting Maxco's commitment to sustainability, the LTS maximizes the use of renewable or recycled source materials and is a 100 percent recyclable, corrugated, wax-free container. Unlike traditional long-term storage options, the LTS can be baled at the retail store level rather than ending up in a landfill.
Coated with the company's recyclable water-based "Maxguard" treatment, which makes the box durable in high-humidity conditions, the LTS provides safe product storage and better product arrivals for retailers, the release said. The company expects demand for the product to grow as more domestic and export markets experience its benefits. With the focus in today's market on sustainable, environment-friendly products and practices, Maxco's LTS achieves those goals without compromising performance. Years of development and refinement, based on field tests and feedback from customers, have gone into the development of the LTS, according to the release.
Maxco also announced the launch of its brand-new, redesigned company web site, www.maxcopackaging.com.
Designed with the customer in mind, the improved, user-friendly format simplifies finding information. Information on packaging options, packaging machinery and customer service are all available in a few simple clicks. Maxco Supply will be exhibiting at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit Oct. 12-15 in Houston, booth No. 4417.
