Potatoes added to supply mix at Imagination Farms
Imagination Farms, based in Indianapolis, continues to expand distribution of the "Disney Garden" brand with the addition of a comprehensive potato category, supplied by Rigby Produce of Rigby, ID, and Russet Potato Exchange of Bancroft, WI.
Glen Reynolds, East Coast sales manager for Imagination Farms, said in a press release, "Potatoes are an important category in every produce department. The use of the 'Disney Garden' brand creates unique opportunities for us to introduce kids to the health attributes of potatoes."
He added, "Rigby and RPE are leaders in the potato industry, providing established regional growing operations throughout the U.S, national distribution, comprehensive assortments and work in the areas of marketing and product innovation."
Russ Wysocki, president of Russet Potato Exchange, added in the press release, "As marketers, we are always eager to tout the health benefits of potatoes to our consumers and find new ways to inspire a new generation of consumers to include potatoes in their diet."
Nick Fullmer, sales specialist for Rigby Produce, expressed similar sentiments: "'Disney Garden' is an exciting opportunity to capitalize on the power of the number one family brand in the U.S. as an opportunity to get kids excited about potatoes."
Potatoes made their debut with the "Disney Garden" brand via an early summer promotion featuring the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean." New-crop potatoes will zoom into market in September featuring favorite characters from the Disney/Pixar movie "Cars."
Melinda Goodman, director of marketing for Imagination Farms, said in the press release, "With our focus on increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables among children, education plays an important role, and promoting the health benefits of potatoes was very important to us. To complement the 'Cars' theme and support the nutritional messaging goals of Imagination Farms, all packaging features Fuel for Fresh Fun messaging that talks about the health benefits of potatoes in easy-to-understand language for children."
Potatoes (russets, reds and golds) will be available in the "Disney Garden" brand directly from Rigby Produce or Russet Potato Exchange. Rigby and RPE join other "Disney Garden" suppliers Ito Packing (stone fruit, cherries and blueberries), Four Star Produce (domestic grapes), Crunch Pak (sliced apples), SunWest Fruit Co.
