Tarantino Foods joins Pro*Act network
Pro*Act, a leading fresh produce supplier to the foodservice industry based in Monterey, CA, announced that Tarantino Foods LLC in Buffalo, NY, has joined the company's distribution network.
Tarantino Foods, a second-generation, family-run business established in 1947, operates from a 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, distributing fresh produce and perishable foods to foodservice operators in Buffalo and Rochester, NY, as well as other areas in the western and southwestern regions of the state.
Pro*Act provides integrated produce and perishable distribution- management programs to foodservice operators across North America utilizing its expertise in sourcing, logistics, technology and food safety, and its network of over 70 distribution centers coast to coast.
In a press release, Phil Tarantino, president of Tarantino Foods, said, "Pro*Act is an organization with resources far beyond those we hold as an independent company. They provide us access to foodservice operators under their distribution programs, their produce procurement programs with major grower-shippers, information system and food-safety resources, and the ability to establish relationships with our peer distributors. We're very excited to join this great organization."
Lloyd Ligier, vice president of business development for Pro*Act, added in the press release, "Tarantino Foods is highly thought of in their market, and we're very happy to add them to our roster of distribution companies. Buffalo and Rochester were two of the few remaining markets where distribution coverage for our multi-unit customers was open."
