Connecticut Department of Agriculture kicks off 2007 season with new campaign
In an effort to raise consumer awareness of and support for Connecticut farmers and "Connecticut Grown" products, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture has partnered with Cashman & Katz Integrated Communications, a marketing firm in Glastonbury, CT, to develop a new comprehensive, statewide advertising and public relations campaign for 2007.
The campaign kicked off with a celebration and media event at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Regional Farmers Market in Hartford. The theme for the "Connecticut Grown" marketing campaign and the newly adopted tagline is "the local flavor."
The campaign will include television, radio, billboard and transit advertising, as well as signage for retailers and farmers markets, which were all unveiled at the event.
The kickoff event included brief remarks from Robert Pellegrino, director of marketing and technology at the Connecticut Department of Agriculture; F. Philip Prelli, the state's commissioner of agriculture; Bob Heffernan, representing the state's greens industry; Chris Bassette of Killiam Bassette Hillstead, a vegetable producer; Robin Chesmer of Farmer's Cow, who is in the dairy industry; and John Lyman of Lyman Orchards, a fruit producer also representing Connecticut's Agricultural Business Cluster, which is a voice for Connecticut agriculture.
